Palo Duro Canyon, in Amarillo Texas, is the 2nd largest canyon in
North America.
At the Grand Canyon in Arizona, you can drive around the rim of the canyon, or hike down into the canyon, but you can't drive down into it. So you can't see it from below without a long strenuous all-day hike. And since reservations at the bottom must be made months in advance, you have to hike all the way back out the same day. So as you hike down part way, you have to always plan to hike back up the same day. However, at Palo Duro Canyon, you can drive your car down into it, and view the cliffs from below, going on short or long hikes up the cliffs at various points. So, it's better for those who can't do such a long hike. |

Herds of bison wander across the road in Yellowstone's Lamar
Valley.
If you see a herd coming towards the road, stop and wait.
It's great to be the 1st car in the "bison jam" as they walk
past.
Better than being behind a bunch of cars and unable to see them.

After 70 years, the face and pointing finger are done, plus a tunnel
under the arm so both sides of the mountain can be worked.
Not yet the hair, arm, chest, etc., or the horse.
The horse head is drawn on the cliff in white paint.
