Brick stoop removed to build new vestibule.  You can see the old stoop here.

2009-05-27_010_BrickStoopRemoved2.jpg
Notice that the brick is cut flush with the sides of the windows.  That turned out to be a mistake.  Had to put some of the brick back when it was all done.

No, he didn't dig it all by hand.

Outer form built for the new foundation wall.  Not yet lowered into the hole.

2009-05-27_032_OuterFormBraced.jpg
Outer form installed around the inner form, and braced to hold the weight of the liquid concrete about to be poured into it

Pouring concrete for the foundation wall

2009-05-27_034_OuterFormGivingWay.jpg
Oops!  The outer form wasn't braced quite well enough.  The weight of the concrete is making it bulge.  Had to brace it a little more.

2009-06-08_001_DriedFoundationWall.jpg
Foundation wall thoroughly dried.  Wooden form removed.  Wall is a little thicker than planned where the form bulged.  Not a problem (or so we thought, at first).

Fill the entire wall with well-packed modified stone and add rebar for the slab (vestibule floor) that will be poured next

2009-06-08_006_RoofExtensions.jpg
Note the new roof extensions at each peak end of the roof.  You can see that there was no overhang at the south peak or north peak of the main roof, or at the peak of the bedroom roof until we added them with the new roof.

2009-06-08_007_BrickCut.jpg
Now you can start to see why cutting the brick flush with the windows was a problem.  We're going to end up with new siding instead of old brick for a few inches on that wall.
