Dear Fred,
we didn't meat at all, but I think you got my email addres because your father in law, George van Rossum, was my cousin. You are Brita's husband, aren't you? And during the time that George was suffering of the disease of Alzheimer you regularly sent me messages about him. I appreciated that very much!
When has George died? That must be at least 5 years ago?
Last week I read a letter that George wrote to me after the death of my father, in 1993. My parents were very fond of him: he was such a gentle and wise man.
My mother was a sister of George's mam, my aunt Marie.
There also was a letter from uncle George, they all were such lovely people, I am happy to have had so many dear family members.
Are you and your family doing well, after all the election happenings?
I presume that you are happy with your new president Biden.
Last week in Holland we had elections too: alas there has been a strong turn to the right.....
The urgence of saving the climate and thus the earth, seems to be a not too important item to the people in charge...
That depresses me very much.
Perhaps we will meet once: my sister-in-law and her husband are living on Long Island, in Huntington Station.
I planned to visit them several times last year, but that is still impossible. Perhaps in the end of this year....
And who knows, there might be an opportunity to meet you and Brita as well.
For now: I send you a lovely photograph of the family of my mother with her sisters and eldest brother. The youngest, uncle Bram, hadn't be born at that time.
The names of the family (from left to right): Gré , Will, Tootje (Cato), Marie (George's mom), Truus (my mother), Wies and Jeanne Klinkenberg.
Dear Fred,
thanks for your mail,
with love,
Jenny Hess
